Electric I-PACE Impresses as Car of the Year

Electric I-PACE Impresses as Car of the Year! Over the past few months, the Electric Jaguar I-PACE has been awarded numerous prestigious awards that celebrate its innovative design and powerful EV engine. Since its debut, the model has been highly anticipated even being named the most significant concept vehicle of 2017. The model is a 400 horsepower all-electric SUV with an expected EPA-estimated driving range of 220 miles. The I-Pace features a cab-forward design with a short hood, allowing for better aerodynamics and more interior space. The vehicle’s wheels are farther out which was needed to fit the car’s large, flat battery pack, but it also helps with driving performance.

The first of the awards saw the Jaguar I-PACE take home the title of 2019 German Car of the Year Award. The awards were chose by 12 expert automotive journalists who were tasked with testing and comparing 59 cars to ultimately choose the winner. Jens Meiners, German Car of the Year Award Jury Member and Spokesman had this to say about the panel’s decision: “The Jaguar I-PACE is not only the first premium electric vehicle from an established manufacturer, it also makes uncompromising use of the advantages of an electrified vehicle architecture. Its performance is impressive, and its design and practicality stand out, which is why the I-PACE ultimately was the winner against strong competition.”

The I-PACE also impressed judges in Norway who named the SUV EV the Norwegian Car of the Year. Determined by a panel of eight expert jurors including a racing driver, industrial designer, and automotive journalists judged eight different cars. Ultimately seven of the eight judges chose the Jaguar I-PACE because of its “premium feel and quality, while ride, handling, range and design.” Espen Stensrud, Lead Juror for Norway Car of the Year said about the decision: “I’ve driven a lot of electric vehicles, and this is the one I’ve enjoyed the most. It’s been a long time since our final decision on Norway Car of the Year was so clear.”

To add to the collection, the I-PACE was also named the BBC TopGear Magazine EV of the Year! To date, the I-PACE has been awarded with over 25 recognitions including Scottish Car of the Year, Sunday Times Car of the Year, Auto Express New Car of the Year and Autocar’s Game Changer title. For more Wilde Jaguar news, Follow us on Twitter or Like us on Facebook.
